Libertinesque provides quality collections of clothing for both men and women. Being interesting and different is important to us, so the clothes we have chosen represent the cream of designer fetish wear. We proudly feature French designer Patrice Catanzaro, whose breathtaking collections are quite irresistible and stylish, yet very burlesque and quite wicked.

Diamanté Highlights

Diamante is described as fabric covered with glittering ornaments such as sequins or rhinestones.  Originally, rhinestones were rock crystals gathered from the river Rhine. The availability was greatly increased when around 1775 a jeweller called Strasse had the idea to imitate diamonds by coating the lower side of glass with metal powder. Hence, rhinestones are called Strasse in many European languages.

In 1955, the Aurora Borealis, a thin, vacuum-sputtered metallic coating applied to crystal stones to produce an iridescent effect, was introduced. Aurora Borealis tends to reflect whatever colour is worn near it, and it is named after the Aurora Borealis atmospheric phenomenon, which we now know as the “Northern Lights”

Typically, crystal rhinestones have been used on theatrical costumes, everyday clothing and jewellery, and are produced mainly by Svarovski in Austria and in the Czech Republic under the name of Preciosa, and a few other glassworks in northern Bohemia.

Some of the most amazing fashion statements have been made in the name of Diamante, if you think of Elvis, many of his signature jumpsuits were hugely adorned with rhinestones, and country music has become synonymous with the wearing of rhinestone. There was even the famous song by Glen Campbell, Rhinestone Cowboy.

Most designers today will include Diamante on some of their collections. Patrice Catanzaro has included small amounts of this decoration in his lingerie line. Splashes of sparkle on bra straps, lines of diamante highlights on pants all make the item a little more Hollywood!!

The interest in Diamante, and the attraction that designers have for it, means that the sparkly little devils will be around for many years to come.

Laqué Bra

We all know how the bra was developed, don’t we? Ok, so it started with the laced basque, way back in the mists of time. From there came the lengthened corset, and the shortened waspie. The problem with the shortened versions is that there was no support for the bust. A separate garment was designed to give the bust independent support, which over the years has undergone many and varied changes to suit size, shape, and fashion.

One of the biggest developments of the bra has been its move into a sensual, sexual accessory. From the cupless, the balcony, cut away cups, peephole and every other possible variation. Once you have visited every design you can think of, the only variation to vary is the fabric and believe me, every possible combination has been used from cotton to rubber and latex.

However, there is a new one! Libertinesque, the sales operation in the UK representing the French designer Patrice Catanzaro, are presenting his collections made of a fabric that Patrice calls Laqué. He wanted to change the perception of sexy and fetish clothing, and get away from the sometimes difficult to wear and maintain fabrics such as Latex and Leather.

After much thought and research he came up with Laqué, which is a mixture of Polyester and Elastanne. The fabric itself has the weight of a good jersey, and is stretchy. The inside feels like silk against the skin, but the outside looks like latex, and has a satiny sheen. Skirts and dresses hang beautifully, and the tighter fitting garments such as tops, trousers, lingerie and short dresses, are very figure hugging, hugely flattering and feel like a second skin.

Under exhaustive test situations, the material has been found to have unequalled lasting qualities. It does not react to constant sunshine, or water. The outer covering does not split, separate or crack. You hand wash, and drip dry it, and even if it has been scrunched up in your suitcase for a few days, just hang it up and the creases drop out in half an hour.  Perfect!!

Cupless Bra

Cupless Bra

A cupless bra might seem like a contradiction in terms because the whole purpose of a bra is to support and cover the boobs.  Strangely though, the cupless bra does give support, admittedly not as fully as the tradition full cup version.   Probably something to do with the tight fitting band round the ribcage which gives something for the weight of each one to sit on.  I’m not sure I would recommend going jogging in one though!

The fashions favour the sexy and daring looks so the cupless bras are ideal for the young and trendy to wear under or over their T shirts and also for the not so young too.

Bras with partial cups that don’t cover the nipples (called an open cup bra) are quite popular as a token gesture toward propriety but thumbing the nose in reality!

There are a few important tips to note, if you are venturing your boobs out in your first cupless bra though:

Make sure you measure your rib cage accurately (just under the crease underneath the breast) and fit the bra snugly.

Make sure the straps are long enough and don’t cut in.

After securing the bra, lift each breast until the skin is smooth underneath and allow to rest comfortably.

Libertinesque.com feature a small but delightful selection of cupless bras. My favourite is the one called Flowers – a delightful confection of 2 straps each side with a sliding flower which sits over the nipple.  They are the creation of French designer Patrice Catanzaro, and are made of his exclusive fabric called Laque.   To see is to touch; to touch is to try; to try is to buy!

Bare Bottomed Dress

Bare Bottomed Dress

Bare Bottomed Dress

Baring one’s bottom in public has shocked polite society at all times throughout the centuries but it is undoubtedly one of the most erotic situations to encounter.  Glimpses of rounded buttocks through thin summer skirts, tiny bikini strings showing far more than they cover and even the low slung, low waisted jeans which reveal the female ‘builders bum’ are all hailed as sexy and enticing to the vast majority of red blooded males, but bare bottoms are a different matter.

Most of us girls are quite partial to a small, tight male posterior too!  Particularly when wrapped in tight jeans or figure hugging swimming shorts… Even better is a tall, fit guy wearing chaps (leather, latex or PVC) with a thong!  Bare bottomed and sexy as hell

Fetishists from all over the world have a real penchant for bare bottomed clothing too – it makes everything so much easier to indulge their love of all things BDSM.   OTK spanking is best carried out on a bare bottom and the fetish fashion designers have come up with a variety of ‘spank skirts’ and bare bottomed dresses specially for this purpose.  Some of the better designs have metal or plastic rings sewn into them for the attachment of chains or hand-cuffs to assist with the restraint of the recalcitrant Sub.

The best one I have seen is the Calien bare bottomed dress from Patrice Catanzaro which is made of part PVC and part Laqué with a sheer panel over the boobs and lots of rings.  I think you will agree this is a naughty little number and I am sure the wearer will feel the consequences before too long!

Asymmetric Laqué Skirt

There’s definitely a trend for asymmetric skirts and dresses around at the moment http://www.sofeminine.co.uk/fashion-trends/top-10-spring-fashion-trends-d11887c192223.html. Check out the number of celebs who have been seen parading up the red carpet at various glamorous dos lately:

So I though I would take a look at what’s going on with asymmetrical clothes in the rather more black-than-red carpet world of fetish, Goth and clubbing wear. And where better to start than with our own King of Kinky Couture, Patrice Catanzaro, right here at Libertinesque…

Asymmetric Laqué Skirt

Now, the reason for designing clothes that are not quite symmetrical is to make them look unusual and unique – to create something that’s out of the ordinary. And this way of shaping garments works particularly well when it comes to women’s clothing because you can show off a little more of yourself. If there’s only one sleeve in the dress you get to expose the sexy sweep of your bare neck and shoulder; if the hemline curves from long to short you can reveal much more leg than if the skirt was level all the way around – ideal if you’re wearing stockings and killer heels as well!

The different fabrics that Patrice uses for his clothes – the silky stretchy laqué, glossy PVC, supersoft sheer fishnet, and the gossamer-fine tulle – all lend themselves perfectly to this irregular shaping, and he uses each one of them to make really beautiful and individual pieces.

This selection of short laqué dresses:, the long-sleeved zipped Nina with pointed hemline and cuffs, and the Nirina with asymmetric shoulder straps and hem. There’s an even shorter, naughtier version of Nirina (in the lingerie section) with wide suspender straps attached to the curving hemline.

Maybe you fancy something longer, like the up-and-down long laqué Luna skirt? There’s the saucy see-through Milla fishnet top.

So if you want to be super sexy, and on trend, you need look no further than Libertinesque.
