Fishnet Catsuit

Fishnet Catsuit

Fishnet Catsuit

I don’t think the everyday catsuit needs any introduction. We’re all familiar with this one-piece garment that turns up everywhere from the catwalk to Olympic speed skating to scuba diving to science fiction television shows. And let’s not forget tennis. But even fashion icon Serena Williams didn’t dare step onto the court wearing a fishnet catsuit. This unique piece takes the style and imagination of a traditional catsuit and turns it into a see-through statement of pure sex appeal.

There’s nothing about a fishnet catsuit that doesn’t say, or more accurately, shout, sexy. It hugs every single curve and puts each one of them on display. There many different kinds of fishnet, from the large rope-like mesh all the way through to soft, smooth sheer material. The type of material determines how the catsuit will fit and how it will interact with the body. A larger mesh will create an exciting pattern across the skin, while the softer, sheer material will wrap the body in a satiny sheen that is silky smooth to the touch.

You may also hear the fishnet catsuit referred to more commonly as a bodystocking. While they are both similar in look and feel, a bodystocking is designed to be worn under clothing, or as lingerie. Of course it doesn’t have to be, and neither does a fishnet catsuit. But if you’re thinking of wearing either as an undergarment, think one step further: how much of a surprise it would be for your partner to discover a full-length fishnet catsuit under your every-day business suit upon returning home from an ordinary day at the office?

If this article has you convinced that it’s time to give the very sexy fishnet catsuit a try, may we suggest the Sarah Black Fishnet Catsuit, tight-fitting bodysuit with a high neck and an unzippable crotch, or the Vetina Fully Enclosed Black Fishnet Catsuit, a fully enclosed bodysuit that wraps your entire body in smooth and sheer black fishnet, like a delectable and decadent present just waiting to be opened!

Fishnet Vest

Fishnet Vest

Let’s start by clearing up a bit of UK/American terminology that some might find confusing. A UK vest is an American ‘tank top’ (for women) or ‘undershirt’ (for men). Our Scottish friends call a vest a ‘semmit’ and our Antipodean friends refer it as a ‘singlet’. But whatever term you’d like to use, a sleeveless top made out of soft, sheer, see-through fishnet is a very sexy addition to any woman’s (or man’s) wardrobe.

The word vest comes from the French veste, the Italian vesta, and the Latin vestis. I think we can see a theme happening here. In general it means ‘some sort of garment designed to cover your upper half’. However the fishnet vest is not actually designed to cover much of anything as you can see from the picture. Popular in both men’s and women’s styles, fishnet vests can be found everywhere there is flesh to be shown: beaches, nightclubs, body-building gyms and most definitely bedrooms.

Although they might seem a bit over the top at first look, fishnet vests are actually very versatile. They can be worn on their own (for the confident exhibitionist), or they can be combined with a second opaque vest underneath to create a layered look. This layered look can be enhanced with a variety of bold colours, a popular look for exercise or other sporty/casual settings. The fishnet vest was also very popular in the 80’s punk/gothic look. And it can also serve double duty as an undershirt for women’s blouses under business suits.

No matter what word you use to describe it, the fishnet vest is an adaptable fashion item that can work well in a variety of situations. From sporty to sexy, it’s one of those pieces that can really add some spice to your wardrobe. One example is the Cat Black Fishnet Vest, which features a designer t-shirt style embellishment and a see-through surprise!
